Flu season 2021
This year’s flu season is going to be different because of the Covid-19 continuing pandemic.
We are still awaiting further advice regarding the Covid-19 vaccine booster programme. We will inform you as soon as we are aware. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SURGERY REGARDING THIS.
Given the positive feedback from patients about the drive thru flu clinics last year we are organising more this year, again weekends at Rose Hill School click here for details on how to find . If however you wish to walk, we can accommodate walk-ins please book via reception.
Patients who meet the eligibility criteria will receive an invitation from the surgery via text, email or letter.This will include the dates of our drive thru clinics and how to book in via patient partner using the four digit code.
When you receive your invitation for your flu vaccination a four digit code will be included we ask that you book in using this option following these steps:
- Call 01892 546422
- Option 1 (if calling during surgery hours)
- Option 1 (if calling outside of surgery hours)
- Enter your date of birth press the * key
- Enter your telephone number (landline or mobile) press the * key

General information for patient partner:
Q: What is it?
A: Patient Partner is system that allows you to book, cancel, check or change your appointments at any time, night or day seven days a week using your telephone.
Q: What information will I need if I chose to use the 24 hour automated phone service?A: You will need the date of birth for the person you want to book, cancel, change or check an appointment for entering the date of birth as 6 digits example 01/01/01. Once entered press the star key *
A: You will also need the telephone number the surgery has associated to that person this could be a mobile or a landline. If using a landline please note you do not need the local code. Once entered press the star key*
Q: What happens if the date of birth and telephone number is wrong?
A: If you fail the validation the following message will be played “we are unable to verify your details” you will then be given the option to try again.
Q: What do I do if I want to talk to a receptionist?
A: You have the option to talk to our reception team during our opening hours at all stages you just need to follow the guide at the time when it prompt you do so.
Think you should have got an invite?
If you feel you’re eligible but have not received an invite by the end of September we would advise that you call in on 01892 546422 in the afternoon after 15:00 so we can investigate this.
Can't make the drive thru? Contact reception for an alternative.
Aged between 50-64?
Please note that, if you are aged between 50 and 64 you will be contacted when the vaccine is available. After those have been vaccinated in the at risk groups.
Carer for shielded patient?
If you are a household member or a carer of a shielded patient, you are eligible for the flu vaccination. Please contactThe Wells Medical Practice for more information or visit your local community pharmacy.
2 & 3 year olds
For parents/carers of two and three year olds, you should receive an invitation for your child to have the vaccination at The Wells Medical Practice before the winter. If you haven’t heard by early November, contact us directly to make an appointment.
School children (all ages)
For school-aged children, a vaccination session will be held at school during the autumn term. Your local healthcare team will contact you via the school. If you miss the date provided by the school, please note the school will offer another date to catch up those missed.
